Why is the EPA Digging Us?

In Featured, Headlines, Intern, News, YCC

On Thursday, September 3rd, scientists from the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) came to work with members of GYF’s Atlanta Youth Corps at the Urban Conservation Training Institute. This was a part of the EPA’s Urban Soil Assessment Project which has the motto of “Rediscovering Your Community’s Urban Soils. This project has taken place over 11 cities around the country, with Atlanta being the last stop. This team studies how water moves through the soils located in selected cities. Their goal is to help city planners use soil effectively in creating green spaces that will help prevent environmental challenges that come from excessive rainfall. Our Atlanta Youth Corps members had the opportunity to observe and participate as the team tested soil  at UCTI.
