    Akilah S. Richards is an author, content writer, and podcaster. Her liberation-focused work explores strategies designed to help people leave or change the environments where they do not feel free or safe as themselves. She is an intersectional feminist writer with a keen focus on amplifying the spectrum of Black and Brown people’s voices in the Self-Directed Education movement.

    Christa Sanders is an International Education professional with over a decade of progressively responsible and diverse experience in the field of higher education. Experience includes: counseling (with a focus in multiculturalism); academic advising and planning; supervision and training of staff, etc. Strong background in creating and managing study abroad programs in Africa and Europe. Motivated, efficient and resourceful with proven management skills. Publications and research stress understanding of cultural factors on a world wide scale. Extensive travel experience spanning 45 countries and languages include: Spanish, German and Portuguese.

  • Pearl Aidoo Board Member

    Pearl Aidoo was born and raised in Ghana West Africa. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Policy and Administration from the University of Leeds, UK, and a Master’s degree in International Development Studies from the University of Bradford, UK. She has been a full time home maker since 2006. Pearl has worked as a Management Consultant with Price Waterhouse (Ghana) and in the banking and finance industry with SunTrust Bank and Pension Financial Services respectively in Atlanta, Georgia.

  • Wellington Onyenwe Board Member

    Wellington Onyenwe completed his undergraduate course work with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Molecular Toxicology at the University of California-Berkeley, College of Natural Resources and a Masters of Public Health Degree in Environmental Health Sciences and Toxicology at Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Public Health Promotion and Environmental Toxicology at Georgia State University, School of Public Health.

  • Ruth Kitchen Board Member

    Mrs. Kitchen holds a BA from Michigan State University and a Master of Education from Texas Women’s University. Through her continued studies, she has become certified as an Educational Supervisor, Diagnostician and Reading Recovery Specialist. These certifications have allowed her to address, develop and implement positive programs to empower the student’s she served.
