A Service Day with SPELHOUSE!

On Saturday, August 29th, Greening Youth Foundation was honored to host the Spelhouse Service Day at its Urban Conservation Training Institute (UCTI). This event was made possible through a partnership between GYF and the Spelman College Bonner Scholars Program.

About 35 freshman volunteers from Morehouse College and Spelman College came to the site ready to help. The students were spilt into three groups. One group painted a portion of the inside of the institute facility. Another group worked on re-mulching the front of the site and the third group did a massive clean-up in the goat and sheep area. All of the students came with a positive attitude and did a great job. The students were motivated and excited to hear that the site that they were helping to develop is a space that allows inner-city youth to obtain conservation and career training and ultimately a better life. We are looking forward to a second Spelhouse Service Day in the spring.
